SPEAKER SERIES: Lunchtime Talk #5, With Dr. Jason Franklin (Otolaryngology), Dec 4

Dear OR Enthusiasts,

As Old Man Winter falls upon our plugged ears, runny noses and sore throats, QSIG is happy to present "Otolaryngology", the final instalment of our lunchtime speaker series for this term.

On Wednesday, December 4th, Dr. Jason Franklin will share with us the ins and outs of the ear, nose and throat. Dr. Franklin attended medical school here at Queen's, worked in London as a head and neck cancer and reconstructive specialist for a number of years, and has recently returned to Kingston.

Join us for one last surgical blast before we say goodbye for 2013!

Dear OR Enthusiasts,

QSIG is excited continue its lunchtime speaker series with Dr. Dimitri Petsikas. He will be coming to speak about cardiothoracic surgery on Tuesday October 29th.

This is also a prime opportunity to meet the physician who often allows med students to be his first assist during surgery, which is very, very cool.

Unless, of course, you've never wanted to hold someone's heart in your hands.

SKILLS SESSION: Suture Your Future with QSIG and FMIG!

Dear OR Enthusiasts,

QSIG is excited to bring you its first skills session -- suturing! The bread and butter -- or, needle and thread, as it were -- of any surgical specialty.

Co-hosted with the Family Medicine Interest Group, there will be two sessions of this populr annual event: October 30, 6-7pm OR 7:15-8:15pm. Sign-up is open until Friday, October 18. Spots are limited to 30 students per session, and are selected by lottery.

SPEAKER SERIES: Lunchtime Talk #2, With Dr. Michael Leveridge (Urology), Oct 15


Dear OR Enthusiasts,

Turn your head and cough -- Queen's Surgery Interest Group presents urologist Dr. Michael Leveridge as speaker for our second lunchtime talk tomorrow. Dr. Leveridge is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Urology and Oncology, and undertook a fellowship in Urologic Oncology at Princess Margaret Hospital and the University of Toronto.

QSIG LAUNCH: Lunchtime Talk With Dr. Davide Bardana (Orthopaedics), Sept 25

We are excited to announce that today, QSIG will be launching the first lunchtime talk in its speaker series! We will be featuring Dr. Davide Bardana, an orthopaedic surgeon here at KGH. Dr. Bardana specializes in bone and joint reconstruction following athletic injuries and traumas.

Not only will this talk allow you to learn about orthopaedics as a subspecialty, but it will also enable you to ask any questions you want regarding lifestyle, expectations, stereotypes and what they look for in their top residents.
